Google's
Chrome
browser
, with its vast library of
extensions
, has revolutionized the way we interact with the web. Among the
top chrome extensions
coveted by developers worldwide is the
WP Debug
, a
Chrome extension
par excellence. Garnering an impressive 4.35 out of 5 rating, this browser tool has an array of features that enhance the WordPress debugging process.
Unparalleled Features of WP Debug
This Chrome extension comes packed with features that make the often complex and tedious
task
of debugging a breeze. WP Debug supports JSON & JSONP, boasts syntax highlighting with over 36 light and dark themes, and allows collapsible trees with indent guides. The line numbers and clickable URLs make navigation easier, and users can toggle between raw and parsed JSON. It's designed to work on any valid JSON page, and it also functions on local files, provided you enable this in chrome://extensions.
Embracing User Feedback
WP Debug's high aggregate rating is a testament to the positive feedback from its users. According to the user "geri g", the extension allows working with local files if turned on at "Manage Extensions" > "Allow access to file URLs". This feature, however, was not automatically fixed by other JSON extensions, as noted by user Louis Shine. While some users, like Vigneshwaran Elumalai, noted minor issues with line numbers, others like Владислав praised the extension for showing both formatted and raw data on one page. User reviews thus underscore the tool's robustness and versatility.
Why WP Debug Stands Out
WP Debug's standout feature lies in its ease of use and open-source platform. Based on user reviews, the extension is intuitive and effective, with the ability to inspect the JSON by typing "json" in the console. Additionally, the developers have ensured that privacy is a priority, with no tracking, advertising, or other nefarious activities associated with the extension.
Conclusion: The Chrome Extension Worth Your Attention
WP Debug is indeed a game-changer among the top chrome extensions, particularly for developers working with WordPress. Its high rating, user-friendly design, and advanced features make it a must-have browser tool for anyone seeking to simplify and streamline their debugging process. The creators of WP Debug have truly set a high bar in the realm of chrome extensions with their innovative and powerful browser tool.
10 Reviews For This Extension
FYI for anyone saying this no longer works: there is a NEW version of this extension by callumlocke.com. Just do a search for the same name, "JSON formatter" and it should come up as one of the first results.
This is no longer working with the most recent version of Chrome. I'm really bummed because I have been using this for years now and have loved it!
FYI: Working with local files can be can turned on at "Manage Extensions" > "Allow access to file URLs"
Other JSON extension fixing automatically. This one, at least in the chance I gave it - Does not :-/
I'm not getting line number 2... But response data is proper... Line number going like this 1,3,4,5,...
This extension is the first out of seven (!) that could show both formatted and raw data on one page. Are my requirements too high? xD Thank you!
Absolutely it's great extenstion
nice
If we could add some "Content-Type". It would be perfect with patterns. Like "application/.* json;. *" to match "application/my-app+json;charset=utf-8"
It does nothing for me. I'm attempting to open a local json file and it just opens in raw text, just as it would in notepad or wordpad.
